Social media has come under scrutiny lately. Algorithms that aimed to get people using the site longer became addictive and eventually led to a tunnel vision of the world where your own biases are acknowledged.
Mastodon is an open-source decentral social media network that could be seen as an Twitter/Facebook alternative. Its design is very interesting since it has minimal algorithms in place, not made to be addictive since they don’t create an endless curated timeline. Furthermore, the federated model allows you to chose a Mastodon instance where you agree with the moderation rules. In case you don’t like those rules anymore, you can move your profile to another instance, or setup your own.
