It starts off great with the “apply science and technology to social concern”, but when he gets the question about drug abuse he doesn’t seem to recognize or be aware that drug use is related to social problems, which are sustained due to the systemic economic inequality. The guy keeps providing examples that drugs is worth a lot and therefore it exists… Maybe it’s the zeitgeist of that time, where people were not that aware of the underlying causes of drug abuse.
