The future is calling - Meet the 10 year smartphone

I wonder how they will do that, mostly the software part. Since drivers of Qualcomm are often end-of-life in a few years. And to obtain the license to run Google Play, you need to pass a few thousand tests. Which will not be possible if the chipset vendor doesn’t provide suitable drivers. It’s not impossible either of course, but it takes a lot of effort to get it done (check Fairphone e.g. with their 5 year support cycle).

And then of course there is the businessmodel. Is a business able to survive with such an efficient phone?
