Still using fossil fuels, but hey, it’s still progress
I was wondering if I could make my light tractor self-driving, and will surely try, but it will be trickier, since terrain in the south-east is wavy. There are lots of great ideas for self-sufficient DIY agriculture here - including, I believe, self-driving tractor.
On second thought, I might’ve labeled the video not entirely correct. Self driving means autonomous driving. These tractors are simply programmed to follow a certain path guided by GPS. There is some automation and autonomy involved. But it’s not like a Tesla car.
In agriculture it generally works that way. You could, and probably should add some sensors to the front and sides to avoid crashes, but that’s the spirit of it afaik.
